Background

I began his martial studies in 2008 at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith. Since that time, I have engaged in dedicated study, practice, and teaching of the traditional martial arts of Japan, China, and Korea. I have several research projects to my name covering a wide variety of topics including the history, philosophy, and contemporary practice of martial arts. In my teaching, I am an advocate for martial arts as a means of self-improvement, promoting non-violence and conflict resolution.

I hves served in a variety of educational roles, both in the classroom and as administration. Most recently, I served as the Director of Programming for the Community School of the Arts in Fort Smith, and have previously served as adjunct faculty for the UAFS Department of Music. I have also worked with the UAFS Academy of the Arts, as well as the Oklahoma Youth Orchestras, Inc. In additional to my educational pursuits, I am an active composer, conductor, and performer.
